2022 UPDATE

You definitely don't need me to tell you this - especially if you live in Australia - but the last 6 months have been pretty hectic. And with COVID-19 case numbers showing little sign of slowing down any time soon, things are probably going to continue to be hectic. Not only that, but in a pretty significant moment in my own life I moved out of home for the first time in December. Suffice it to say, writing and blogging hasn't been particularly high on my list of priorities as of late. 

The good news is that is no longer the case. Now that I'm settled, and with other full-time work slotting in too, I am going to be devoting a lot more time to my own writing - both in terms of cinema and my own fiction/screenwriting. 

A large chunk of that writing is going to happen here, but in another update I am also going to be doing some writing for Insights Magazine, the official magazine of the Uniting Church here in Australia, doing mainly film reviews for new releases. In fact, you can read my reviews of both Eternals and Dune over there right now over here. Those are going to be in a roughly 700-1,000 word format, while I will be doing some shorter quick-take style stuff over here on the blog, as well as the occasional longer piece.

That's about it for now, but I'm looking forward to continuing to do something I love - talking about movies. ARMY OF THE DEAD (2021): FILM REVIEW

Army of the Dead (R18+) Directed by Zack Snyder Written by Shay Hatten and Joby Harold Starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell and Ana de la Reguera Duration: 148 minutes I've never been a huge fan of Zack Snyder, but even I can acknowledge when someone has a hot year. Especially in a time like the one we're living in currently, to release two different films at the scale of Army of the Dead and Zack Snyder's Justice League within a few months of each other is a big achievement, and that's even before you take into account just what it took for Snyder to release his cut of Justice League.  The idea at the heart of this film is a cool one; a zombie apocalypse adventure blended into the Ocean's formula of an ensemble heist movie is interesting, and novel as far as I am aware.
